Getting wind power to hold a charge

An interesting read in today’s NY Times on the growth of power storage companies, which are a crucial component of the renewable energy effort, especially wind power, where electricity is generated intermittently – and not always at the time of greatest demand.
CommonWealth magazine’s
special issue on energy and the environment, released yesterday, gives some attention
here to Watertown-based battery storage firm A123 Systems. Two other Bay State firms, First Wind and Beacon Power, get some attention in today’s
Times story. Interestingly, the story cites projects both firms are doing in other states, a sign of the reach of Massachusetts clean tech companies.
