Fly the bipartisan skies

Washington may be paralyzed by political partisanship, but our state’s Democratic and Republican senators seem to be getting along reasonably well.
In Boston today to accept a “good guys” award
from the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus, Sen. John Kerry recounted how
his flight this morning from Washington to Boston had been canceled. He also noticed that a flight Sen. Scott Brown was on was recalled to the gate.
Scrambling to find another way to Boston, Kerry said he joined two other Senate colleagues
who were getting on a flight to Providence. But he didn’t forget about his
fellow Senator from Massachusetts.
Kerry said he called Brown on his cell
phone (yes, he has his cell number) and told him about the Providence flight. Kerry
said Brown hustled over, caught the flight to Providence and was picked up there by his
daughter.
The other honorees of the Women’s Political
Caucus were House Speaker Robert DeLeo; Essex County Sheriff Frank G. Cousins
Jr.; Greg Torres, the president of MassINC,
which publishes CommonWealth; and
Rick Rendon of the Rendon Group.
